Cup Series driver Chase Briscoe is in the middle of his first season with Joe Gibbs Racing. He replaced Martin Truex Jr. and has experienced a moderate level of success so far. He recently held a question-and-answer session with his fans on X, citing that he had an hour left on a flight and would like to engage with them as much as he could.
One of the questions put in front of him was if he’d race in the Indianapolis 500 sometime within the next few years, considering that he was a native of Indiana.
Racing in the Indianapolis 500 is a dream for many NASCAR drivers. The prestigious event offers a great opportunity to showcase driving talent beyond the boundaries of stock car racing and is a valuable addition to a driver’s resume.
Briscoe, however, has no plans to enter an open-wheel event. He responded to the fan’s question, “If I was single and no kids I would try it but now with a family and all I doubt I ever will.”
Briscoe married Marissa Cooper back in November 2019 and they have three children together. Clearly, his young family is reason enough to avoid stepping outside his comfort zone.

Despite his reluctance, he has a lot of admiration for Kyle Larson, who has attempted the Indianapolis 500 and will do so again this year. The admiration stems from their shared background in sprint car racing. He even admitted to watching all of Larson’s practice sessions for the event last year. As for himself, the focus will be on bettering his performances with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Briscoe doesn’t want to be like Logano
The defending Cup Series champion, Joey Logano, was caught yelling profanities at his teammate, Austin Cindric, at Talladega for not giving him the pushes that he needed during the race. It led to Logano missing out on a Stage 2 win, with rival Bubba Wallace taking it instead.
In light of this incident, a fan asked Chase Briscoe if he’d ever yell at a teammate in such a questionable manner. The driver simply replied, “Not my style.” Briscoe shares the garage with experienced teammates like Denny Hamlin, Ty Gibbs, and Christopher Bell. Hamlin is a veteran driver, and Bell is inarguably one of the best drivers in the sport.

Gibbs is the grandson of the team owner, Joe Gibbs. Even if it were his style, such a strong reaction wouldn’t fly at Joe Gibbs Racing.

Connor Zilisch wins wild NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis
On a wild afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway that featured rain, late-race crashes and a late pass for the win, Connor Zilisch emerged as the victor. Zilisch got around Taylor Gray with two laps to go and scored his fifth win of the season, his third consecutive and the 100th for JR Motorsports. "He's a good little driver," team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. told CW Sports. "This is awesome," Zilisch told CW Sports. "Those bricks look really kissable. It's so cool to get JRM 100 wins." The race featured multiple instances of inclement weather and two controversial incidents involving Kyle Larson and Justin Allgaier and Austin Hill and Aric Almirola. Larson and Allgaier tangled while racing for the lead on a restart, while Hill wrecked Almirola after Almirola had gotten Hill loose in turn 3. Polesitter Sam Mayer, Gray, Larson and Ryan Sieg rounded out the top-five, with William Sawalich, Sammy Smith, Daniel Dye, Jesse Love and Dean Thompson completing the top-10. Other notable finishers include Jeb Burton in 15th, Sheldon Creed in 17th, Harrison Burton in 18th, Carson Kvapil in 30th and Nick Sanchez in 33rd. Hill, Almirola and Allgaier finished 34th, 35th and 36th, respectively. The 22nd race of the 2025 Xfinity Series season will take place at Iowa Speedway on Aug. 2. The HyVee Perks 250 will go green shortly after 4:30 p.m. ET, with coverage on the CW, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
New report suggests Christian Wilkins release related to 'incident' with teammate
There may be more to Christian Wilkins’ recent surprise release from the Las Vegas Raiders. NFL reporter Josina Anderson reported Saturday that "some sources believe an incident involving a teammate may have factored in-part into the Raiders' fatigue and release" of Wilkins. The nature of the incident is not clear. However, many believe the Raiders had a very good reason to move on from Wilkins considering the money they had invested in him. It also suggests the Raiders saw no alternative if they went straight to a release. Wilkins was dumped by the Raiders just one year into a four-year, $110 million deal. The Raiders suggested Wilkins failed to take rehab seriously as he tries to work his way back from a foot injury. Other teams do not appear to have the same concerns about Wilkins as the Raiders did, and he should find a new landing spot fairly easily. That is one of the reasons some suspect there is more to the Raiders’ decision than they are publicly saying.
Yankees manager provides major update on Aaron Judge's injury
New York Yankees star Aaron Judge missed Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies with an elbow injury, and the slugger is now headed to the injured list. The Yankees fell 9-4 to the Phillies on Saturday at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y., which marked their third consecutive loss. Judge played in Friday night's 12-5 loss to Philadelphia, but Aaron Boone announced before Saturday's game that Judge was dealing with an "elbow issue" and would sit out. Following his team's latest loss, Boone shared some new information about Judge's injury. Judge has been diagnosed with a flexor strain, but the Yankees believe he can return in less than two weeks. When Judge returns to the lineup, Boone said it will initially be as a designated hitter. Judge is having an outstanding season. He entered Saturday batting .342, which is the best mark in baseball. The reigning American League MVP has 37 home runs, 85 RBI and a 1.160 OPS. The Yankees are now six games behind the AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays and fighting to remain atop the wild-card race. It goes without saying that they are hopeful Judge will be able to return as soon as possible.
Mariners' Cal Raleigh makes history with 40th home run
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh clubbed his 40th home run of the season on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Angels, not only extending his major league lead but also making him the first player in baseball to reach the 40-home run mark this season. It also helped him make some history. With his 40th home run, Raleigh became both the first catcher and the first switch-hitter in baseball history to reach the 40 home run mark before the end of July. Here is a look at his 40th home run. He is already in the process of having one of the best seasons ever for a Mariners player, and also one of the best seasons ever for a catcher, for any team. Especially when you add in his defense, where he is one of the best defensive catchers in the league. His only serious competition for the American League MVP Award remains New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge. But with Judge sidelined for a period of time now due to an elbow injury, it might open the door for Raleigh to really put himself in the lead for that award.
