10-Year NBA Veteran The Golden State Warriors Should Sign
USA TODAY Sports

On Saturday evening, the Golden State Warriors  will host the San Antonio Spurs at the Chase Center.

Before the game, the Warriors announced an injury update on two-time MVP Steph Curry

Via The Golden State Warriors: "Stephen Curry received an MRI that confirmed a sprained right ankle after exiting Thursday's game against the Bulls.

Curry will not play in tonight’s game against the Spurs and will be re-evaluated again on Tuesday."

Even though Curry's injury is not severe, I believe this is a sign that the Warriors should add another guard to their roster before the NBA playoffs.

Chris Paul is 38 and has dealt with many injuries over his career, and the Warriors also did not replace Cory Joseph, who they traded last month.

Who Should They Sign?

At this point in the season, there are not a lot of options, but Lance Stephenson would be an intriguing addition.

The 10-year veteran is currently playing in the G League and is averaging 15.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per contest while shooting 46.6% from the field and 37.4% from the three-point range in 22 games (15 starts).

Stephenson could likely be signed to a 10-day contract, and if he plays well, they could sign him for the remainder of the season without any significant financial risk.

The 33-year-old most recently played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season when he played in 46 games for the Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers

He averaged 8.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest.
