Speaking on an upcoming episode of Paul George's Podcast P, which is presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment, former NBA superstar and LA Clippers big man DeMarcus Cousins revealed his reason for retiring from the league.

"I'll never accept the label that I can't play the game anymore," Cousins said. "As a competitor, as driven as I've been in this game since I've stepped foot in it, the blood, sweat, and tears I've put behind this sh-t. And I can be completely f--king wrong, but I'll never accept that, because I know what I can do when I get on the floor. I had to come to peace with it when it came to my family and my situation at home."

Expanding on this, Cousins added, "People don't realize, when it comes to this career, this sh-t take all our time... Being a father, being a husband, being a family member... It's a lot of stress on your family... Being an every day dad, that sh-t meant the world. Being able to wake up, take my kids to school, pick them up, I wasn't able to do that sh-t in my career because we're always gone."

Coming to peace with the fact that he would rather be at home with his family, Cousins has walked away from the NBA despite feeling that he can still contribute at a high level.
