Hassan Whiteside most recently played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season when he was with the Utah Jazz.
That season, he played in 65 games and averaged 8.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per contest while shooting 65.2% from the field.
Most recently, the 34-year-old had been playing for a team in Puerto Rico, and it's now been announced that he is reportedly retiring from basketball.
Via El Vacilón Del BSN (translated to English): "Hassan Whiteside, informed the management of Pirates of Quebradillas of his intention to retire from basketball. That's why he won't be back with the franchise."
Whiteside was the 33rd pick in the 2010 NBA Draft out of Marshall and has also spent time with the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers (in addition to the Jazz).
Over ten seasons, his career averages were 12.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per contest while shooting 58.6% from the field in 511 regular season games.
He also appeared in 26 NBA playoff games (18 starts).

Whiteside was known as being one of the best rim protectors and led the league in blocks two times.
During the 2017 season, he averaged an impressive 17.0 points, 14.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per contest while shooting 55.7% from the field in 77 games with the Heat.
He averaged at least 1.9 blocks per contest in five of his ten seasons and a career-high 3.7 during the 2016 season.
Whiteside also appeared in 65 G League games.
