3 Detroit Pistons Players Who Could be Traded During the 2025-26 NBA Season

The Detroit Pistons were the surprise team in the NBA last season as they finished sixth in the Eastern Conference standings and ended their playoff drought.

Of course, the Pistons had finished with the NBA’s worst record the prior two seasons before their historic turnaround last season.

Now the Pistons will enter the 2025-26 season with high expectations as they try to compete for a top spot in the East behind their core of Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson, Jalen Duren and Tobias Harris.

While the Pistons are expected to be one of the top teams in the East this season, they could also elect to make some moves ahead of the deadline and these three players could potentially be on the move if they decide to do so.

Tobias Harris

Harris played a major role in Detroit’s turnaround last season as he gave them a veteran leader in the locker room and also put together a solid season on the court.

Despite this, the 33-year-old forward is entering the final year of his contract which could cause the Pistons to look to move him so that they do not potentially lose him for nothing next summer in free agency.

If this ends up being the case, the veteran forward should draw interest from some contenders around the league or Detroit could package other players and picks around him to go out and land another star.

Marcus Sasser

After putting together a solid rookie season, Marcus Sasser took a step back last season as he saw a dip in minutes.

This was mainly due to the Pistons’ addition of Dennis Schroder at the trade deadline and with Schroder leaving for the Sacramento Kings this offseason, Sasser could be in line for a bigger workload this season.

Despite this, Detroit could also elect to sign a veteran point guard in free agency ahead of the season to be the backup to Cunningham and if that happens, Sasser could end up being on the move ahead of the deadline.

Paul Reed

Paul Reed re-signed with the Pistons this offseason but he could become a trade candidate ahead of the deadline due to Detroit’s abundance of depth in the frontcourt.

Of course, Reed did play a large role at the end of last season and in the playoffs with Isaiah Stewart being injured, but his role is uncertain heading into the season.

With this, and with many teams around the league searching for frontcourt depth, Reed could draw interest from others around the league and the Pistons may be willing to move on from him with his role in the rotation uncertain.

While the Pistons could look to make moves this season, they will likely keep most of their core together as they try to compete for a top seed in the East.
