It was an incredible season last year for the Indiana Pacers as they made a run to the NBA Finals and pushed the Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games before eventually falling short of a championship.
Of course, the big storyline exiting the NBA Finals was star guard Tyrese Haliburton’s injury in Game 7 when he tore his Achilles which will keep him out the entire 2025-26 season.
With Haliburton’s injury and the loss of Myles Turner, who signed with the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency, Indiana is not expected to a be a title contender this season.
Because of this, they may elect to make some moves ahead of the trade deadline and these three players could be moved.
Obi Toppin has been in trade rumors over the past few seasons despite him playing a large role for the Pacers, especially during their playoff run last season.
Despite this, the 27-year-old forward has continued to be the subject of trade rumors and will Indiana likely headed for a disappointing season, they may look to trade him to add more talent to their roster and more draft capital.
If the Pacers do make Toppin available, he should draw interest from some teams around the league, especially contenders in need of forward depth.
T.J. McConnel was one of the Pacers’ most important pieces during their run to the NBA Finals last season and he should have a large role this season with Haliburton sidelined.
Despite this, the veteran guard could draw attention from many contending teams around the NBA as he has become one of the best backup point guards in the league.
If this is the case, the Pacers may elect to move him if they receive the right deal, though it would be a tough decision to move him after he put together one of the best seasons of his career last year.
With the Pacers likely heading towards a rough season with Haliburton sidelined, it will be a perfect season for them to continue to see the development of their young talent and jarace Walker is among them.
Walker was the eighth overall pick in the 2023 draft but he has not seen a large role over his first two seasons in the NBA.
Despite this, the 22-year-old did improve his production last season after seeing an increase in minutes, though he could still be a potential trade candidate for the Pacers who could bring in a solid return that could help Indiana in the future.
As the Pacers enter the new season, they could make many changes to their roster with them expected to be outside of the playoff race as they prepare for Haliburton’s return from injury during the 2026-27 season.
