After being the surprise team in the NBA during the 2023-24 season, the Orlando Magic took a step back last season as they finished the season with a 41-41 record.
Of course, this was mainly due to their star duo of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner both missing extended periods due to injuries.
With both players back healthy heading into the new season, the Magic are looking to make a run at a top seed in the Eastern Conference this season and they also made some notable additions this offseason.
The biggest addition to the Magic’s roster this summer was Desmond Bane who they acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies and they also signed Tyus Jones in free agency.
With these moves, the Magic are looking to make some noise in the East this season but they also may elect to make more moves ahead of the trade deadline and if they do, these three players could be potential trade candidates.
While Wendell Carter Jr. has played a major role as the Magic’s starting center over the last four and a half seasons, the franchise could look to upgrade their center position this season.
The 26-year-old is a solid scorer and rebounder who can stretch the floor and has been a key piece for Orlando during his time with them.
Due to this, the Magic trading Carter Jr. is highly unlikely unless they are able to acquire another starting center who is an upgrade over him.
Jonathan Isaac has dealt with a ton of injuries over his eight seasons in the NBA, including missing two seasons due to injury.
Despite this, the 27-year-old forward did suit up for 71 games last season and played a key role off the bench for the Magic on both ends of the court.
While that was the case last season, Isaac’s injury history and hefty contract could cause the Magic to at least shop him on the trade market and they could elect to move him if they receive the right offer.
After being selected 11th overall in the 2023 draft, Jett Howard only played in 18 games as a rookie.
That changed last season as the 21-year-old forward appeared in 60 games, though he did average only 11.7 minutes per game.
As the Magic enter the 2025-26 season, Howard’s role in the rotation remains uncertain and they could look to move him ahead of the trade deadline, especially if they are able to package him in a potential trade to land another key player to bolster their roster.
For the Magic, they could be aggressive this season ahead of the trade deadline to make moves as they try to land a top spot in the East and make a run at a championship behind their new trio of Banchero, Wagner and Bane.
