The Denver Nuggets have had a busy offseason thus far as they elected to make major changes to their roster following their second consecutive second-round playoff exit last season.
Denver began the summer by trading Michael Porter Jr. to the Brooklyn Nets for Cameron Johnson, which not only landed them a sharpshooting forward but also freed up cap space.
The Nuggets then used the extra cap space to sign Bruce Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr. in free agency and they also acquired Jonas Valanciunas from the Sacramento Kings to bolster their depth.
With these moves, the Nuggets are expected to be a major title threat this season with Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon leading the way.
Despite this, Denver could also look to make more moves ahead of the trade deadline and if that is the case, these three players could be potential trade candidates for them.
Peyton Watson has turned into a key player off the bench for the Nuggets since his rookie season in 2022 as he continues to develop.
The 22-year-old forward is coming off the best season of his career last year, though his production may decrease this season with the additions Denver made to their bench.
Because of this, the Nuggets could elect to move the young forward this season to add another key player to their roster, though it would be a tough decision for Denver to move him.
Like Watson, Julian Strawther has also been a key player off the bench for Denver over the past few seasons.
Last season, the 23-year-old forward put together the best season of his young NBA career but he may also see a drop in production with the additions to Denver’s bench this offseason.
Due to this, the Nuggets could look to move him this season to add another key player to their rotation, though it would be a tough decision for them to move him.
Zeke Nnaji has been in trade rumors over the last few seasons, though he has not drawn much interest from other teams due to his large contract and poor play.
Last season, the 24-year-old forward did average more minutes than the season prior, though he is still at the end of Denver’s rotation.
Because of this, the Nuggets will likely shop the former 22nd overall pick once again this season, though other teams may once again show no interest in acquiring him.
While Denver could trade all of these players, it is likely that they will keep their current core together as they try to not only land a top seed in the West, but make a run at another championship.
