3 Takeaways from Warriors' Loss to Magic

The Golden State Warriors (9-7) had their three-game winning streak snapped with a 121-113 loss to the Orlando Magic (8-7) on Tuesday.

Stephen Curry (34 points) and Jimmy Butler (33 points) combined for 67 points, but the Magic still won pretty comfortably with six players in double figures.

Here are the takeaways from Tuesday's game:

Warriors' Non-Stars Play Worst Game of Season as Kuminga Is Missed

Curry, Butler and Draymond Green combined for 79 points on 27-of-47 shooting (57.4 percent) and 19 assists.

All other Warriors had 44 points on 14-of-41 shooting (34.1 percent) and just seven assists.

Moses Moody (six points, 2-of-6 shooting), Brandin Podziemski (five points, 2-of-7 shooting) and Al Horford (nine points, 2-of-6 shooting) all played 27 or more minutes, but none reached double figures.

Buddy Hield had a particularly poor game, totaling two points, one turnover and no other stats in 15 minutes.

Perhaps Steve Kerr could have turned to Gui Santos (DNP), but ultimately the players need to be held accountable more than the coach for not playing a deep bench player more.

Jonathan Kuminga's return can't come soon enough, as the Warriors simply need more firepower.

Turnovers Will Decide Warriors' Fate

The Warriors broadcast showed that Golden State is undefeated when it has fewer turnovers than its opponent but only has one win when it has more turnovers than its opponent.

On Tuesday, the Warriors had 18 turnovers, and the Magic had 14.

Golden State entered Tuesday ranked 26th in turnover rate.

I don't think this team will ever be excellent at avoiding turnovers, but even getting to about average would be huge. Draymond Green and Stephen Curry had at least three turnovers miscommunicating with each other.

They need to set the tone to climb the Western Conference standings.

Even with Loss Tomorrow, 3-3 Road Trip Is Acceptable

I wrote that the Warriors have the most grueling schedule in the NBA to start the season, so it's no surprise that the Magic came out with more energy en route to taking a 15-point first-half lead.

After the Warriors play the Heat on Wednesday, they will have played 17 games overall and 12 road games, both being the most of any NBA team.

It wouldn't be surprising if the Warriors sit Curry, Butler and Green on Wednesday, as they could use an extra day of rest before Friday's NBA Cup game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Normally a 3-3 road trip wouldn't be mission accomplished, but considering how much wear and tear this team had entering the roadie, it really would still be a success.
