52% of workers tested at Orlando Airport test positive for COVID-19; how will this affect NBA?

This isn't good news for the NBA resuming their season at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., in the coming weeks.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday that 260 workers at Orlando International Airport (MCO) have tested positive for the coronavirus after 500 employees were tested, which doesn't bode well for the teams looking to fly into the airport located just 20 minutes away from Disney World.

What's even worse is that 2,780 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Florida on Tuesday, according to clickorlando.com. Since reopening a majority of businesses and activities in the state, Florida has seen an immense rise in the number of people diagnosed with the deadly virus.

It's unclear how this news will affect the NBA's return at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney, but it seems all but certain that teams won't be flying into MCO if the season still is played in Florida.

MCO isn't the only airport close to the Disney World complex available for teams flying into the Orlando area. Kissimmee Airport is about 20 minutes from "The Most Magical Place on Earth," while Orlando Executive Airport is located about 30 minutes away. Those are just a few options, too, and there's always the possibility they fly further away from Orlando and bus themselves to the resorts.

There's also potential that they fly into MCO privately and don't step foot into the airport, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

The NBA announced Tuesday a number of protocols and activities for players staying at the Disney World complex. Teams will reportedly be staying at the Gran Destino Tower, Grand Floridian and Yacht Club and will also have access to pools, various activities and private Disney chefs, among other things.

The league is set to return to action at some point between July and August, but we'll have to wait on an official announcement in the coming weeks.
