Paul George’s tenure in Philadelphia has been defined by injuries and cautious management. Signed to a four-year, $212 million deal in July 2024, he played just 41 games in his first season, averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, before being shut down in March due to lingering issues with his left adductor and knee. Ankle and pinky injuries also limited his ability to establish consistency.

During the offseason, George underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to address lingering discomfort and structural concerns. He began the 2025-26 season under a minutes restriction while continuing rehabilitation, making his season debut on Nov. 17 against his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers.

George followed with appearances versus the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat on Nov. 23, totaling three games. Across those contests, he has averaged 13.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.0 steal, and 1.0 block in 22 minutes, showing glimpses of his two-way impact while being eased back into action.

Ahead of Tuesday’s matchup against the Orlando Magic, the 76ers listed both George (right ankle) and center Joel Embiid (knee injury management). Philadelphia appears to be taking a cautious approach with the All-Star, prioritizing long-term health and careful minute management as the team continues to ensure he is physically ready before logging extended minutes.

George’s availability is critical for the 76ers. Despite limited action this season, he remains one of the elite forwards of his generation, with nine All-Star appearances and six All-NBA selections.

While his early-season performance has been modest, his track record suggests he can still provide scoring, playmaking, and leadership when healthy. The 76ers host the Magic at 8 p.m. ET on NBC/Peacock.
