76ers President Remains Optimistic About Joel Embiid's Health

The 2024-25 NBA season wasn't kind to the Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid. The All-Star big man was limited to 19 games because of his nagging knee issues. This resulted in him being  shut down for the rest of the campaign in February.

With the plethora of injuries he's had recently, many are curious to know if he'll ever return to the court. Not long ago, he won the Most Valuable Player award after posting 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists.

Unfortunately for Philly, their star player has not been consistently available over the past two seasons. It has created uncertainty in his career.

On Thursday, 76ers' president of basketball operations Daryl Morey addressed the future of Embiid. Morey appeared on the "Rights To Ricky Sanchez: The Sixers Podcast" and said no one is sure about the big man's future, but he remains "optimistic."

"Look, nobody knows what (Embiid’s) future will be,” Morey said. “We're optimistic, but nobody knows… We have a wide range of outcomes, we're optimistic, but part of sports is to not know. We are maybe the most unknown team in the NBA."

When healthy, however, Embiid has shown he can still be productive and reliable. In the 19 games he played in, the seven-time All-Star averaged 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists.

Many hope for Embiid to return. The Sixers' system relies heavily on him being present and active on the floor. Fortunately for Philly, the big man was shut down before the regular season ended to address the best approach to his injury.
