Aaron Gordon fired up about Nuggets’ offseason moves

Aaron Gordon likes what he sees.

The Nuggets’ new-look front office made a flurry of moves this summer, and the 30-year-old forward made it clear on NBA Today with Malika Andrews (via The Sports Rush) that he’s on board.

Denver shipped Michael Porter Jr. to Brooklyn in exchange for Cameron Johnson, brought in Jonas Valanciunas from Sacramento to anchor the backup center spot, and added more shooting with free agent Tim Hardaway Jr.

“That’s a squad, especially with Big Val too,” Gordon said. “Big Val is gonna hold that down. That’s a boy. We got a squad.”

But the move Gordon is hyped about most? The return of Bruce Brown, a critical piece of Denver’s 2023 championship team.

Brown re-signed in free agency, giving the Nuggets back a versatile defender and glue guy who can slot anywhere on the floor.

“Brucey B is back,” Gordon grinned. “Uh-oh. Might be problems for y’all, Brucey B is back.”

Gordon himself is coming off another steady year, averaging 14.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists across 51 games, though a hamstring injury slowed him late in the playoffs.

He says he’s fully recovered now — and still grateful to share the floor with Nikola Jokic, the perennial MVP candidate who continues to redefine the game.

“He’s amazing … to get to play around one of the best players, if not the best player of all-time,” Gordon said. “It’s the gravity that Joker has.

“I think we have a great understanding of each other on and off the basketball floor. You guys are gonna see that flourish.”

The Nuggets were bounced by Oklahoma City in the West semifinals last spring.

With Brown back, Valanciunas shoring up the middle, and Jokic still doing Jokic things, Denver’s betting those problems are in the rearview.
