Veteran center Al Horford is considering retirement from the NBA.
Horford, who spent the last four seasons with the Boston Celtics, is an unrestricted free agent.
“Veteran big man Al Horford’s future remains unclear,” The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach wrote. “A league source said Monday that Horford is taking his time while assessing offers from multiple teams but added that the 39-year-old is considering retirement, too.”
Horford played in 60 games for the Celtics last season. The five-time All-Star and 2024 NBA champion averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 42.3% overall, 36.3% from beyond the arc and 89.5% from the foul line.
The 39-year-old Horford has played for the Atlanta Hawks, Celtics (twice), Philadelphia 76ers and Oklahoma City Thunder. The Florida product has career averages of 12.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
Horford has been linked to the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets in free agency.
Horford entered the NBA in 2007 with the Hawks. He was the third overall pick in the 2007 draft.
