Alex Len Signs Two-Year Contract With Baskonia

After two college seasons at Maryland, Len was selected fifth overall by the Suns in the 2013 draft. The Ukrainian big man spent the next 12 years in the NBA, primarily playing for Phoenix and Sacramento. He also suited up for Atlanta, Toronto, Washington and the Lakers.

Across his 12 NBA seasons, the last of which came in 2024/25, Len held career averages of 6.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 17.0 minutes per game. He made 690 regular season appearances, including 244 starts.

Len received a training camp invite from the Knicks last fall but was waived before the 2025/26 season began. Shortly after he was cut by New York, he signed a multiyear contract with Real Madrid.

The 33-year-old’s first season with Los Blancos was a disappointing one, as he was buried on the depth chart behind ex-NBA big men Walter Tavares and Usman Garuba. In 23 EuroLeague games Len averaged just 3.0 PPG and 2.0 RPG in 9.0 MPG.

Real Madrid parted ways with Len in early July, and he had been on the open market until now. He should have an opportunity for more playing time with Baskonia, as the EuroLeague and Liga ACB team’s only other option in the middle is Kenneth Faried.
