The Indiana Pacers lost their most tenured player this summer, Myles Turner , to the Milwaukee Bucks. They tried to replace him by re-signing Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman to multi-year contracts and trading for Jay Huff from the Memphis Grizzlies.
Obi Toppin recently had the opportunity to work with Jackson, Wiseman, and Huff, and the Indiana Pacers forward said he has faith in them this upcoming 2025-26 campaign.
“All the bigs that we have here are amazing bigs. We had Isaiah and James here last year, so they understand the system. They’ve been around it for so long. And Jay Huff is really smart and really good at basketball. He comes in and does his work,” T oppin told Dustin Dopirak of IndyStar.
“He’s going to pick up on everything really quickly… Isaiah and James both look good. I’ve been watching them work out as well. Those guys look really good. I can’t wait for the season,” he added.
The Indiana Pacers must replace Myles Turner’s production via a committee, and they will likely deploy Obi Toppin at the center position in certain stretches.
Listed at 6’9″ and 236 pounds, Toppin can play as a small-ball center, which fits the Indiana Pacers’ high-tempo style because of his versatility and athleticism.
“I’m gonna come in with the same mentality,” Toppin said. “Wherever coach puts me, I’m gonna be ready to play.”
