It is not often that the son of an NBA star goes on to have a great NBA career of their own, but Gilbert Arenas' son, Alijah, has the potential to become a star like his father was. Alijah is touted as a five-star recruit, and his father revealed on Podcast P that there are no days off when it comes to his training.

"Ain't no days off," Arenas said. "We get like 3-400 shots up before school."

Arenas then detailed how he puts his son to work.

"Depending on what day it is, in the morning we'll get up (at) like 5:30 so he has practice of an hour and a half," Arenas continued. "The first 30 minutes is just all dribbling drills, running drills. After each drill, he has to do 20 squats and then line drills and then we go to the next drill."

After that intense session working on dribbling, the next focus area is shooting.

"Then we'll get into just shooting," Arenas stated. "So, if we're working on pull-ups right, you got 50 pull-ups and then 50 pull-ups with contact, right? Just working on your pull-up game... So, after the first 30 minutes, I'm killing your legs in your workout, right? So, if you're dunking, you just got to be really athletic."

Alijah then goes off to school, with his training resuming when he gets back home.

"Then from there, go to school," Arenas added. "Work out and then we got lifting right after and then we got more shooting, more dribbling, posting up, so I got sheets on sheets."

(starts at 6:10 mark):

That's quite the workout plan that Arenas has set out for his son. The 42-year-old knows better than most what it takes to get to the NBA, and Alijah is now reaping the benefits of putting in those hard yards.

The teenager is currently in the midst of an outstanding sophomore season at Chatsworth High School, as he is averaging 34.3 points. 7.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. His strong play has led to him ranking fifth on ESPN 25 for the class of 2026.

Alijah has already received offers from colleges like Kansas, Texas, UCLA, Alabama, and Arizona. He is going to have a lot of options to pick from when the time comes. As long as he keeps his head down and works hard, there's a very good chance Alijah goes on to follow in his father's footsteps and make it big in the NBA.

Alijah Arenas Scored 20 Points Against Nick Young When He Was In Eighth Grade

Alijah has been making waves for a while now and Arenas revealed his son even scored 20 points against Nick Young when he was 13 years old.

"He was in eighth grade, he was playing adult league and it was going and I gave Nick the benefit of the doubt that he had 30-something. They sent me the scoresheet, they both had 20. So, Nick had only 20... But that's gonna happen though, when you're playing in adult leagues and stuff like that you're not taking it NBA serious. But, it's still an eighth-grader bro... As soon as my son finished the game, he called me (and said), "I scored 20 on Nick Young.'"

Young obviously wouldn't have been giving his all, but that was still quite impressive from Alijah. It will be interesting to see if he can one day even surpass his father, who was a three-time All-Star in the NBA.
