Patrick Beverley had a hard time being heard on LeBron James' Lakers

Chicago Bulls guard Patrick Beverley spent only a short time with the Los Angeles Lakers this season but left with some interesting takeaways.

On the latest episode of "The Pat Bev" podcast, the 10-year veteran spoke about his voice, or lack thereof, in the Lakers' locker room. Beverley stopped short of saying he wasn't listened to during his time in L.A. but did reveal the lengths he needed to go to have his opinions heard among the Lakers' hierarchy. 

"You got to go through the first-year coach, to LeBron, to [Anthony Davis], to Russ [Westbrook], then it get to me," Beverley said. "So you don't hear my s--- the way you should hear my s---."

Beverley has a wealth of basketball experience. Along with playing for five NBA teams, the 34-year-old has played professionally overseas in several countries and spent time in the G-League. In Beverley's mind, he had a lot more to offer the Lakers and their younger players. 

"People with the Lakers is frustrating, bro," Beverley said. "It's like people don't be seeing my vision. Like, how could you not like respect anything I got to say?"

Dealt to the Lakers by the Utah Jazz last August, Beverley averaged 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists over 45 games in LA this season. 

Ahead of the NBA trade deadline, the Lakers moved Beverley to the Orlando Magic as part of a four-team deal with the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets. However, Beverley never played a game in Orlando, cut by the Magic three days after the trade. 

Over a week later, Beverley signed with Chicago, where he's been a difference maker, albeit in a small sample size. 

Beverley is averaging 6.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists, but his real impact has come on the defensive end of the court. The Bulls are 8-4 with Beverley on the squad and boast the NBA's best defensive rating over that span.
