There's no way around it, the Golden State Warriors need to make a move at the trade deadline. The team just hasn't been able to put together a string of wins to be in the play-in, and right now they're on the outside looking in. One place to start is the defense.

Golden State Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. spoke about the team's defense and what the team could be looking for during the trade deadline.

"The last 10 or 15 games, our defense has really struggled, and getting Draymond back I think will help," Dunleavy said. "A lot of times it's hard though, the trade deadline, to bring in a player or players that will dramatically improve your defense. If that player is available, we'll look to pursue it, but I think it's gotta come from within. That comes from everybody, that's coaches, that's players, that's the whole deal of kinda tightening this thing up and finding a way to be better defensively. Frankly, offensively, we've been great."

Dunleavy Jr. still believes the Warriors have the right group of players on their roster. He's realistic about the fact that defense has to come from within the players themselves, and no individual player can magically fix that. Still, he believes in his guys.

"If we can kinda get this defensive stuff right, we feel like the offense, taking care of the ball better, guys are emerging like JK, we can be in good shape," Dunleavy said. "We could be in good shape, but we gotta put it all together, and we got to get going here."

The Warriors are on a fine line between having some nice developing players and having some older players who may need to step aside. However, blowing up the team entirely could upset Steph Curry, which is the one thing this franchise does not want to do.
