Who is the shortest NBA player?

More than any other sport, height is a virtue in basketball. In the NBA, it’s not uncommon for a player to stand over seven feet. Despite the importance of height, however, players under six feet have not only survived, but thrived in the NBA. One of those players is 5-foot-9 Isaiah Thomas, the shortest player in the NBA and a fifth-place finisher in league MVP voting in 2017. He is a guard for the Washington Wizards.

Who are other short players in the NBA?

With point guards in the NBA taller than ever, it's increasingly rare to find short players in the league. Aside from Thomas, the only players shorter than six feet are Tremont Waters of the Boston Celtics (5-foot-11) and Frank Mason III of the Milwaukee Bucks (5-foot-11).

Despite his height, Thomas has managed to put together a successful career. In addition to his top-five MVP finish, he has made two All-Star teams over eight seasons and was a Second-Team All-NBA selection in 2017.

Who are the shortest players in NBA history?

Muggsy Bogues spent 14 seasons in the NBA despite being listed at 5-foot-3. Spud Webb, who's 5-foot-7, was the NBA dunk contest champion at the 1986 All-Star Game. Earl Boykins, who played in the NBA from 1998-2012, is 5-foot-5.
