One of the newest Memphis Grizzlies players is already getting in on the meme.

Grizzlies guard Ty Jerome went viral for his interesting celebration during his team’s preseason game against the Detroit Pistons. Jerome pulled up during the second quarter at FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn. and drilled a deep three-pointer over the outstretched arm of Pistons star Cade Cunningham.

After hitting the shot, Jerome made his hand into a gun gesture and pointed it at the Grizzlies bench. Meanwhile, Memphis star Ja Morant, who was in street clothes due to an ankle injury, appeared to point back at Jerome in acknowledgement.

Here is the video.

Jerome, 28, just signed with the Grizzlies over the summer on a three-year, $28 million contract. That came after a breakout 2024-25 season for Jerome in which he averaged 12.5 points and 3.4 assists per game off the bench for the 64-win Cleveland Cavaliers.

As for the Grizzlies, they have been doing weapons-themed celebrations over the last year in apparent reference to Morant’s infamous history of getting in trouble with the NBA for flashing guns on social media. Morant himself notably debuted a new grenade celebration late last season, and Desmond Bane also did a gun celebration for the Grizzlies during a game earlier in the year. With Bane having been traded to the Orlando Magic this offseason for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, and picks, it appears Jerome is now continuing the “legacy” in Memphis.
