As was the case when Anthony Davis shared cover athlete duties for “NBA 2K20” with Dwyane Wade, next year’s edition of the iconic video game series will feature more than one superstar on its covers.
Only for “NBA 2K21,” there will be three cover athletes, as Davis revealed in a TikTok video shared Wednesday morning.

The cover athletes will be announced on June 30, July 1 and July 2. Additional information about the game will be shared all next week as well, per the video.
As noted, Davis was honored with cover status on both the standard and deluxe editions of “NBA 2K20,” with Wade being celebrated on the “LEGEND EDITION” cover upon the conclusion of his Hall of Fame career.

It remains to be seen how “NBA 2K21” will approach the situation. It appears, however, that having three different cover athletes means the regular and deluxe editions probably won’t be handled in the same way as “NBA 2K20.”
Also, it should go without saying that any “LEGEND EDITION” of “NBA 2K21” will almost certainly feature the late, great Kobe Bryant — who of course tragically perished in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif., on Jan. 26 along with daughter Gianna and seven others — given his family authorizes such a tribute.
