The Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers collaborated for one of the most shocking trades in NBA history in February when Luka Doncic was sent to LA against his will for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and one future first-round pick. Davis didn't necessarily want to leave Los Angeles either, but he had been vocal about wanting the Lakers to add a traditional center so he could slide back to power forward.
Davis had that in Dallas when the team was healthy, getting the chance to play alongside Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford. However, he helped the Lakers win a championship in 2020 and will likely always be welcomed back.
The Mavericks sent a contingent of representatives to Los Angeles for the Klutch Sports Pro Day for the 2025 NBA Draft, which was held in the Lakers facility. Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively II, general manager Nico Harrison, head coach Jason Kidd, and assistant coaches Jared Dudley and Sean Sweeney were among those in attendance for Dallas, with Davis wearing a Mavs hat in his old building.

Klutch represents Davis and LeBron James, as well as many other players, and held a Pro Day for prospects such as Duke's Khaman Maluach, Florida's Walter Clayton Jr., Chinese big man Hansen Yang, Illinois' Will Riley, and Saint Joseph's Rasheer Fleming.
Dallas is pretty solidified with who they're likely taking, as they lucked out and won the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery are will take Cooper Flagg with the first selection. Although Flagg isn't represented by Klutch, the Mavs could've been asking his Duke teammate Maluach about him. The Draft is also very unpredictable; they could move Daniel Gafford or P.J. Washington for additional draft compensation or be aggressive in undrafted free agency, so it makes sense to do as much homework as possible.
