Anthony Davis offered his latest thoughts on the NBA MVP race as the regular season approaches its conclusion.
The Dallas Mavericks star shared his views during an appearance on The Draymond Green Show.
The episode, recorded on 6 April, captured Davis assessing the league’s top performers based on current form. His rankings reflected how he viewed the race at that specific moment.
With the debate intensifying, AD’s selections immediately stood out, particularly given the strong consensus forming around one leading candidate.
Davis revealed a top five consisting of Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokić, Jaylen Brown, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Dončić, respectively.
His decision to place Gilgeous-Alexander fourth drew attention. The Oklahoma City Thunder star is widely considered the frontrunner, especially with his team sitting first in the league after a dominant season.
As reigning champions and the current top seed, Oklahoma City’s success has strengthened SGA’s case. Many view his consistency and leadership as central to their position.
Green has already expressed a contrasting view on the MVP race, backing Gilgeous-Alexander as the clear favourite.
He pointed to the latest ESPN straw poll, where Gilgeous-Alexander emerged as the leading candidate for the award, reflecting a strong media consensus.
Green’s stance suggests that, in his view, no other player has done enough to surpass the Thunder star, directly opposing Davis’ decision to leave him outside the top three.
