The Dallas Mavericks had a shocking result against the Detroit Pistons.

Despite being one of the most underachieving teams in the Western Conference, the Dallas Mavericks brought their A-game to the table against the Detroit Pistons.

After all, the Mavericks walked away with a solid 116-114 OT win over the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Anthony Davis played a key role in the victory, but the Mavericks’ superstar was quietly fighting a battle during the matchup.

Davis finished the night with 15 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 assists in 37 minutes of playing time. Although AD recorded a double-double, he didn’t look at 100% strength during the game.

Well, the 2020 NBA champion revealed the reason behind it during the postgame interview.

“I still feel under the weather. I actually threw up twice during the game. Just trying to compete and just trying to do whatever I can to help the team win. Just leaving it all on the floor,” Davis said.

While Davis has battled through calf and knee injuries this season, he feels fit right now.

“Calf is good. Yeah [knee is fine],” Davis added.

Thanks to Davis’ valiant effort, the Mavs improved their record to 11-17 for the season. They still have an uphill battle to climb, but getting a win over the Pistons should serve as a morale booster.

Dallas Mavericks should reconsider trading Anthony Davis

Throughout the 2025-26 season, Davis’ name has consistently shown up in trade rumors as the Mavs fanbase has had enough of the 10x NBA All-Star’s injury troubles.

In fact, Davis could reportedly be traded around the NBA Trade Deadline. Of course, the Mavs have denied the trade rumors.

However, even if the franchise is working on a deal behind the scenes, they should reconsider it after seeing him play through illness against the Pistons.

It shows how much AD cares about the Mavericks and deserves a real shot at bringing back the happiness to this fandom.
