Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has become known, even at the ripe young age of 23, as one of the top trash-talkers in today's NBA, which is only fitting because he happens to be one of the top young players in the league, period.
He showed that clearly on Thursday, when he racked up 44 points in a much-needed 141-125 win over Memphis to close out a key road trip for the Timberwolves, one in which they won their first three games before suffering a heartbreaking loss to Milwaukee that saw Minnesota cough up a 24-point lead.
But the victory over the Grizzlies set things right again.
The win is the Timberwolves' 15th in the last 19 games, and puts them at 47-33, with home games against the tanking Nets and Jazz all that remains on the docket. As things stand, Minnesota is No. 8 in the West, which would put the Wolves in the play-in tournament.
But with two more wins, they will move into the No. 6 seed and secure a place in the West playoffs--likely facing the Lakers.
As impressive as Edwards' heroics on the floor on Thursday were, it was his off the floor antics that drew in even more attention.
During the postgame interview with Minnesota star Julius Randle, Edwards could be heard loudly declaring, "I'm the best in the world! Go tell all the girls!"
Within 45 minutes of posting the quote, Bleacher Report's tweet racked up 250,000 views.
In the original interview, Randle himself could not keep a straight face.

"We held them to three points for a long time," Randle was saying, as Anthony started shouting. Randle then smiled and dropped his head, laughing.
"He's crazy, man, crazy," Randle said.
The Timberwolves play the Jazz on Friday at 9 p.m. ET, and the Jazz on Sunday at 3:30 ET.
