Anthony Edwards Reveals Advice from the Legendary Michael Jordan

Anthony Edwards has constantly been compared to shooting guards of the past. Since he is one of the league's most natural superstars, Edwards is often linked to the biggest names, most notably Michael Jordan.

That is the biggest name possible, considering Jordan is labelled by many as the greatest of all time. Receiving comparisons to such an iconic player is massive, and it is even better when the younger star is receiving advice from the established star.

Over the past few years, Edwards has become one of the most impressive players in the league. At only 24, Ant is already in his sixth season of his NBA career, and he has improved season after season.

During the 2024-25 season, Edwards showed that he could be the league's most prolific three-point shooter. From starting as a pure slasher, Edwards has proven he could be a well-rounded scorer by knocking down a league-high 320 three-pointers.

As he always aims to improve, Edwards welcomes plenty of advice from veterans and retired players. Considering he is often compared to Jordan, talking to His Airness led to him getting valuable advice.

Jordan Gave the Young Edwards Valuable Advice

After leading the league in three-pointers made, one would scoff at the idea of Edwards still improving his game. In basketball, it is crucial to have more tools in the arsenal, which is why Edwards sought valuable advice during the 2025 offseason.

The 2025 Playoffs ended in the roughest way for the Minnesota Timberwolves, as they lost in five games to the eventual champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Edwards did not perform at his best in that series, averaging 23 points per game on poor efficiency.

Edwards could be a much better player if he had more moves. Thankfully, he got to talk to Jordan, who gave him some of the best advice a go-to guy could get.

"Getting to my spots, pulling up, shooting over the defender... I think the best tip that he gave me is that most people lean on people in the post with their [backside], and he does it with the top part of his back. So I think I learned that from him," Edwards said in his 2025 media day presser.

The NBA Should Expect Edwards to Have Another Big Year

Edwards already had a dominant year in the 2024-25 season, but in the upcoming 2025-26 campaign, he will be a more refined player. During the 2025 Playoffs against the Thunder, Edwards played a bit passively, which is far from what people expect from him.

With Jordan's advice, Edwards could unlock a new dimension to his game. He is more of a pull-up shooter from the mid-range area, but he could unlock a post-game with a fadeaway like Jordan or Kobe Bryant.

Edwards is constantly improving, but the rest of his team is also doing well. Jaden McDaniels continues to develop into one of the best two-way forwards in the league. Rudy Gobert is a consistent defensive powerhouse, and Julius Randle can have another strong year.

The Timberwolves might have lost Nickeil Alexander-Walker, but Edwards and coach Chris Finch are doing well to lead this team to another strong run. After two runs to the Western Conference Finals, they are motivated to do even more.
