Anthony Edwards is calling out Shams Charania this week, albeit in a very friendly way.
This week, the Minnesota Timberwolves star Edwards hosted his first annual “Believe That Awards,” a tongue-in-cheek special in connection with Edwards’ sponsor Adidas. The “award show” presented honors in several different categories, including some that were more comical.
During the special, ESPN’s Shams Charania made an appearance as he received an award for “Reporter of the Year.” While accepting the honor, Charania spoke on the year that he had experienced in reporting, headlined by the shocking Luka Doncic-Los Angeles Lakers trade.
In reference to that trade, Edwards sent a profane warning to Charania.
“If you know I’m finna get traded, you better motherf–king text me,” said Edwards to Charania. “Don’t leak that s–t on the motherf–king Twitter or X. Man, send me a text. Let me know.”

The three-time All-Star Edwards, 24, is one of the brightest young stars in the NBA right now and is obviously highly, highly unlikely to ever be traded by the Timberwolves. But as the Doncic trade illustrated, not a single player in the NBA is truly 100 percent safe from getting dealt.
As for Charania, his reporting has drawn the ire of other NBA superstars before, including Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo. But when it comes to Edwards, it looks like the two have a strong relationship of mutual banter.
