Minnesota Timberwolves escaped Denver with a massive Game 4 win, but the bigger headline arrived after the buzzer. Anthony Edwards went down with a scary left knee injury, instantly putting the Timberwolves’ playoff hopes on edge. For a moment, the worst-case fears were everywhere.
Edwards had been dominant in the series, averaging 23 points and eight rebounds while leading Minnesota to a 3-1 advantage over the Nuggets. However, with Donte DiVincenzo also lost for the season due to a torn Achilles, the Wolves suddenly face real adversity.
Per ESPN’s Shams Charania on Sunday, Edwards suffered a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee, but avoided ligament damage. He’s expected to miss multiple weeks and begin rehab immediately.
“Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has sustained a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee and is expected to miss multiple weeks, sources tell ESPN. Results showed Edwards avoided any ligament damage, but he will now miss time.”
Edwards will begin rehab immediately as the Timberwolves finish their first-round series against the Denver Nuggets — up 3-1 — without him. Devastating injuries in Game 4 win: Donte DiVincenzo lost with a torn Achilles and a multiweek absence for Edwards. https://t.co/kKnl9nzx2Z

That means Minnesota must try to finish Round 1 without its superstar. If the Wolves keep advancing, a postseason return remains possible later in May.
Ayo Dosunmu just gave Minnesota Timberwolves a playoff night fans won’t forget. He dropped 43 off the bench in Game 4, shooting lights out and helping the Wolves grab a 3-1 lead over Denver. Perfect timing, too, because injuries just changed everything.
With Anthony Edwards expected out for multiple weeks and Donte DiVincenzo sidelined, Dosunmu now moves from spark plug to major piece. Minnesota likely needs him in the starting backcourt next to Mike Conley for Game 5.
Can he repeat 43? Probably not. Can he give 18 to 22 with energy, defense, and shot-making? That’s the real question. If he does, the Wolves can still survive this stretch and keep their playoff run alive.
