Anthony Edwards Stopped Playing 2K With His Friend Because They Didn't Care About Losing

Anthony Edwards is arguably the most competitive young player in the NBA right now and it's an aspect that seeps into everything he does. During a recent chat with Rainbet, the Timberwolves guard explained why he stopped playing NBA 2K with his friend after beating him in a match.

"I told Slick, I don't play him in 2K anymore because he doesn't have the competitive nature to care when he loses. That's why we never play 2K anymore," said Edwards. "I'm like bruh, you gotta get some juice. You gotta don't like to lose. I don't like that about him and I don't play 2K like that that's what really pisses me off about it. And he plays 2K all day, 24/7 like MyPlayer, exhibition, he does that. So if I beat you, you should be f**king pissed bruh. And I beat him and then I'll just go upstairs and he won't say anything about it."

Edwards, 23, is quickly rising the ranks of NBA stardom. This season, his fourth in the league, he's averaging 27.6 points (career high), 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game on 43.9% shooting. With elite athleticism, natural leadership abilities, and unmatched skills with the ball, Edwards has all the tools he needs to become the next face of the NBA, whether he wants it or not.

Arguably the best part of Edwards' game is his relentless competitive spirit. The guy wants to win at all costs and he clearly hates to lose, but it's not exclusive to the court.

Even in something like NBA 2K, a meaningless video game, Edwards wants to compete against like-minded players. So when beating his friend Slick failed to get any kind of reaction, Edwards knew he could never play that man again.

For Edwards, that competitive nature is everything and it's the thing that drives him to hone and perfect his craft every single day. At 23 years old, Ant isn't like the others in his class: he's a winner at heart who gives everything he has every time he steps on the court.

Individually, this mentality has brought Edwards a lot of success both in life and in the NBA. It's part of the reason he's already a 3x All-Star and the face of the Timberwolves at such a young age.

Unfortunately, Edwards doesn't have the team success to match his amazing skills. Despite tweaking the roster several times over the years the Timberwolves have yet to have their breakout season.

After losing in the Conference Finals last year, they had ambitions to make a title run in 2025. So far, however, the Wolves are 7th in the West with a 31-26 record.

As bleak as things look, the Timberwolves can rest easy knowing that Anthony Edwards is addicted to winning. Whether it's on the NBA court or the sticks in 2K, Edwards will never hold back and you can be sure he'll be fighting hard to ensure his team can secure a top-six spot in the West.

With a competitor like Edwards leading the way, the Timberwolves will always be a threat and they'll never be too far off from making a run in the NBA postseason.
