Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves is one of the brightest up-and-coming stars in the NBA currently. The talented guard has certainly never lacked confidence, and a new clip showing the message he sent to the former President of the United States, Barack Obama, caught the attention of fans everywhere.
In his fifth season in the league, Edwards is starring for the Timberwolves, averaging a career-high 27.5 points per game. while also chipping in 5.8 rebounds and five assists per game. While some believe that Edwards is the next face of the NBA, he thinks that title belongs to San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama.
“That’s what they got Wemby for," Edwards said when asked who he believes will be the best player in the NBA in five years.
Don't let that take from Edwards fool you, though; he's incredibly confident in himself and his own abilities on the floor. So much so that when he met Obama during the 2024 Summer Olympics, he sent a message to him that showcased his strong inner belief in himself.
"Y'all better stand down. I'm the truth. These boys know," Edwards said to Obama in the new documentary "Court of Gold."

Edwards helped Team USA win the gold medal in the men's basketball competition at the Olympics, and he's continued to grow as a player this season. Despite that, it hasn't necessarily resulted in success for the Timberwolves as a team, as their 31-25 record is good for only the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference currently.
With his third straight All-Star selection in the bag, Edwards is poised to try and get the Timberwolves out of the Play-In Tournament spot that they currently find themselves stuck in. They will return from the All-Star break on Friday night when they go up against the Houston Rockets.
