The Atlanta Hawks got an impressive win against the Utah Jazz, with one of their stars putting up historic numbers on the night.

The Atlanta Hawks haven’t had the strong start to their season that their new roster, which they put together, was expected to contend.

The Hawks made big changes coming into the season, signing and acquiring some big-name players to provide Trae Young with the players he needed to compete for a title.

Did Nico Harrison deserve to be fired?

However, Young’s recent injury has hampered the Hawks as they try to manage without their star player on the court.

Last night, however, against the Utah Jazz, one of their bright young stars stepped up and delivered one of the best NBA performances in recent memory.

Jalen Johnson joins Nikola Jokic with incredible triple-double

Jalen Johnson had an impressive performance against the Utah Jazz, putting up a sensational stat line to help the Atlanta Hawks get a big win.

During the night, Johnson had 31 points, 18 rebounds, 14 assists, and 7 steals. To complement his scoring outburst, Johnson made 7 out of his 11 three-point attempts.

It was a sensational performance from Johnson, who proved he can help Trae Young on the court when he returns.

With this performance, Johnson has become only the second active NBA player, along with Nikola Jokic, to put up 30+ points, 12+ rebounds, 12+ assists, and 5+ steals in a single game.

Atlanta Hawks need Jalen Johnson to step up more consistently

A lot of the Atlanta Hawks’ hopes this season were rightly tied to Trae Young. But after his injury, the Hawks have had to demand their other players step up to help them.

Prior to the season, Young outlined his expectations for Jalen Johnson and how he wanted the star to step up and deliver for the team.

And while it was a slow start, Johnson has begun to deliver. This season, he is averaging 21.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game.

If Johnson can put his injury issues behind him and put together a consistent run of form when Young returns, the Hawks can make some massive strides in the Eastern Conference.
