Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry might be one of the greatest NBA players of all time, but according to his wife Ayesha, things didn't always seem that way. During a recent podcast appearance, Ayesha admitted that when they first met, she didn’t expect Steph to become a professional basketball player, let alone the face of a dynasty.

“I didn’t know he was going to end up playing basketball. He said he wanted to be a high school basketball coach," said Ayesha on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast. "I thought I was gonna be the girl out there getting it. So, I didn’t know.”

Steph and Ayesha's relationship goes way back. As the story goes, they met as teenagers at a church youth group in 2003, when Steph was 15 and Ayesha was 14. They didn't get together right away, but they did reconnect in 2008. It wasn't until 2011 that they actually tied the knot and got married, at which point Steph was already in the NBA.

As the son of Dell Curry, Steph developed a love for the game at an early age, and it's no surprise that he wanted a career in the NBA from a very young age. Of course, at 15 years old, Steph had no idea he'd become an NBA legend, and so his ambitions were more in the coaching sector.

While it's unlikely that Ayesha was completely blindsided by Steph's NBA trajectory, it wasn't until they reconnected as adults that she really understood just how good he was. By the summer of 2008, he had just finished his sophomore season at Davidson, where he made national headlines with averages of 25.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.

Of course, we know now what kind of legacy Curry was able to establish. After a few relatively quiet first few years, Steph lit the NBA world on fire with his emergence into stardom, and it led to his status as one of the all-time greats of the game.

Ayesha has been there through it all, supporting Steph and helping him raise a family at home, all while he dominates the NBA. Their story is one of loyalty, perseverance, and authenticity that reminds us how powerful a bond can be between two people who love each other.

While they've reached celebrity status today, the couple had no idea what was coming when they first got together. It was just genuine love that drew them to each other, and everything that followed only strengthened their relationship. She didn't let the fame change her and managed to stay who she was despite the unexpected journey.

Now with four championships, two MVPs, and a reputation as the greatest shooter in NBA history, Steph Curry has built a legacy that no one, not even Ayesha, could’ve imagined. But beyond the highlights and accolades, the bond between the Currys is still rooted in the simplicity of where they started: as kids in church, dreaming about the future.
