Bam Adebayo Expects Heat President Pat Riley To Make ‘A Lot Of Changes This Summer’

The Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs. The Heat lost Game 3 by 37 points and Game 4 by 55.

After Game 4, Bam Adebayo told reporters that he expects Heat president Pat Riley to make “a lot of changes this summer.”

The Heat haven’t won a championship since 2013. They reached the NBA Finals in 2020 and 2023 with Adebayo and Jimmy Butler, but the Los Angeles Lakers won in 2020 and the Denver Nuggets won in 2023.

Butler is no longer in Miami. He’s thriving with the Golden State Warriors, who are up 3-1 on the Houston Rockets. Butler requested a trade from Miami and was traded to Golden State in February.

Riley won’t trade Adebayo or Tyler Herro this summer. However, everyone else on the roster isn’t safe.

“I hope that players became better from it, but damn, it was humbling,” Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said after Game 4. “This series was humbling.”

“Really no excuses for it,” Herro said. “It’s embarrassing.”

It will be interesting to see what Riley does with the Heat’s roster this summer. The franchise has been linked to Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo for several years, but unless Antetokounmpo requests a trade, he won’t be in a different jersey.

Maybe Riley will try to trade for Kevin Durant, who is expected to be traded by the Phoenix Suns this summer. Durant was open to getting traded to Miami at the February trade deadline. The NBA legend and the Suns are expected to work together on a trade this summer.
