The Miami Heat have not had much to celebrate this season.
Between the public Jimmy Butler drama that ultimately led to a trade, the team’s inconsistent play, and uncertainty about their long-term outlook, the Heat have been in search of bright spots.
While Tyler Herro’s offensive outbursts have added much-needed excitement to the viewing experience, it’s been Bam Adebayo’s play on both ends that has propelled him as their bellwether.
Adebayo’s steadiness has kept the Heat competitive throughout their choppy year as they’ve clinched a play-in spot and remain in striking distance to climb further.
Individually, Adebayo’s reliable production this season has also catapulted him up the franchise’s statistical leaderboard.
The center’s most recent milestone came during the Heat’s overtime loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
After registering five more assists, Adebayo moved to third all-time in the Heat’s record books.
Adebayo passed former fan favorite Goran Dragic and is now only behind Tim Hardaway and Dwyane Wade for the most dimes in franchise history.

The statistical achievement underlines Adebayo’s rare skillset and a trend of more teams running their offense through their bigs.
Often used as the Heat’s hub in the half court, Adebayo plays a critical role in Miami’s 5-out offense.
Whether it’s executing a dribble hand-off or finding his teammates out of a short roll, Adebayo’s combination of awareness and vision makes him one of the most unique centers in the NBA.
Although the season hasn’t gone the way the Heat expected, Adebayo’s individual performance and accolades continue to be worth celebrating.
