NBA legend Bill Walton has died.
The NBA announced in a press release that Walton died on Sunday following a lengthy battle with prostate cancer.

“Bill Walton was truly one of a kind,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. “As a Hall of Fame player, he redefined the center position. His unique all-around skills made him a dominant force at UCLA and led to an NBA regular-season and Finals MVP, two NBA championships and a spot on the NBA’s 50th and 75th Anniversary Teams.
“Bill then translated his infectious enthusiasm and love for the game to broadcasting, where he delivered insightful and colorful commentary which entertained generations of basketball fans. But what I will remember most about him was his zest for life. He was a regular presence at league events — always upbeat, smiling ear to ear and looking to share his wisdom and warmth. I treasured our close friendship, envied his boundless energy and admired the time he took with every person he encountered.”
Walton played for the Trail Blazers, Clippers and Celtics during his NBA career. He won a championship with Portland in 1977 and was named NBA Finals MVP. He then won another title when he was with Boston in 1986.
Walton, who was the NBA’s Most Valuable Player in 1978, played in college at UCLA under John Wooden. Walton won three consecutive College Basketball Player of the Year awards from 1972-74. He led the Bruins to back-to-back national championships and an 88-game winning streak in 1972 and 1973.
Walton was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993 and the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. He was known as much for his quirky personality as he was his dominance on the court.
After beginning his broadcasting career in 1990, Walton gained even more popularity for his controversial takes and fearlessness while on the air.

Wizards Top Three Trade Targets: Warriors Forward Leads List
The Washington Wizards could see themselves parting with some long-time members of the squad this season. Corey Kispert could see this as his last season in the DMV, and recently acquired guard CJ McCollum is more than likely going to be traded as well. Will Dawkins could easily get draft picks in return for those players, but he can also find a way to get young talent in return. Here are the top three trade targets for the Washington Wizards this season. Jonathan Kuminga Some fans may not be sold on the idea of Dawkins and company trading for Jonathan Kuminga, but this is a phenomenal idea. The Golden State Warriors want to part ways with him, and Kuminga does not want to be there either. Recent reports have come out showing that Kuminga thinks he is only viewed as a trade piece. If that is the case, the Wizards should jump all over that. Kuminga has been in a limbo phase in Golden State, going back and forth between being a starter and coming off the bench. He can serve as a great third option in Washington, averaging 15.3 points per game last season. A package could include one of McCollum or Kispert for Kuminga and a pick. Guerschon Yabusele Guerschon Yabusele made a name for himself after posterizing LeBron James in the Paris Olympics. Last season, Yabusele played for the Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers and put up a solid season. He would average a career high of 11 points per game and start in over half the games he played. He was also efficient, shooting 50.1 percent from the field and 38 percent from behind the three-point line. Yabusele is a cheap player who would not cost more than $15 million for his next contract. Yabusele is currently on a two-year $11,275,000 contract. For two years, the Wizards would get a solid role player who can be an X-Factor once the team is ready for contention. A package could include Kispert to receive Yabusele, a straight-up swap. Dawkins could scrounge a pick or two as well, but a swap would be more realistic. Isaiah Joe This one may be unrealistic, as the Oklahoma City Thunder may not want to part with anyone else on this squad. Dawkins learned under Sam Presti, and they both attended Emerson College in Boston, so they have a connection already. They traded for Dillon Jones earlier this offseason, but Dawkins may have his eyes on the cheap role player in Isaiah Joe. Joe is an absolute sniper and better shooter than Kispert, and they both make around the same amount of money. A trade could be beneficial to both sides, as Presti would command a pick in return for Joe. Wanting to form a dynasty out on the plains, and the Wizards wanting cheap role players for the future, it lines up perfectly. A package could be Kispert and a second-round pick or two for Joe.
Indiana Fever Star Had Words After Sophie Cunningham's Injury on Sunday
The Indiana Fever beat the Connecticut Sun 99-93 in overtime on Sunday, but Indiana guard Sophie Cunningham left the game with a right knee injury and did not return. Already playing without point guards Caitlin Clark, Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson, the blow to Cunningham continued a brutal trend of injuries in the Indiana backcourt during the 2025 WNBA season. All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell took over for the Fever, tying her career high with 38 points — including 34 after halftime and 10 in overtime. Mitchell's heroics helped erase a 21-point deficit, the largest comeback win in franchise history. After the game, Mitchell opened up about the feeling of seeing Cunningham go down. She said it was like "deja vu," but it also served as motivation for the Fever star. Indiana Fever Playing for Each Other Amid Injuries "Seeing Soph go down, it fuels you if you care about your team and you care about the people in your locker room," Mitchell said. "I can’t even explain it to y’all," added the eighth-year WNBA veteran, full of emotion. "You just really got to care about the people that you play with. It just fuels who we are as people, and y’all get to see it as a team for us.” Cunningham is averaging 8.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 made three-pointers per game this season. Her attitude aligns with Mitchell's words, too. Cunningham has been open about the responsibility she felt to stand up for Clark when the Fever and Sun met earlier in the season. Head coach Stephanie White also spoke about the team's resiliency after losing another player to injury. "They got something inside of them that you just can't teach," White said. "They bring it out of each other. It allows us to go through these incredibly tough times we're going through." Sophie Cunningham Injury Update White was not able to provide an update on Cunningham's status in the aftermath of the emotional overtime win on Sunday. She is expected to have an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury, which occurred when Connecticut guard Bria Hartley fell and made contact with her standing right leg.

Cowboys' Tyler Booker Reacts To 'Dream Come True' Debut
Dallas Cowboys first-round pick Tyler Booker finally had his NFL debut in the second preseason game, in the 31-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. And yeah, he was as advertised. Booker looked at home in the NFL, and yes, we get it, it's preseason, but we saw all that we needed to, and given the fact that Dallas had its best running plays behind the right side of the offensive line, ittells you all you need to know. But how was getting on the grass in a real NFL game? “Great,” Booker said. "It's really a dream come true. I was glad to be out there with my teammates. Glad to see some live action, and I'm very excited to watch the film. Just going out there having any debut was really a dream come true. Being able to play with my teammates and some live action. It was definitely a great time. Had a great time. Perhaps the best thing was that Booker wasn't just able to be serviceable, he was good. Per PFF, Booker, on 15 pass plays, didn't offer up a single pressure with No. 52 stout against the Ravens pass rush, and also, his push in the run game was something that will no doubt make Schottenheimer and the coaching staff happy. Yes, it was only preseason, but with all the question marks surrounding the Cowboys, one that we don't have is whether Booker will be able to compete at a high level and look good doing it.
Commanders Trade? Washington 'Shopping' Starting Running Back, Per Report
The Washington Commanders will enter the 2025 season with one of the better offenses in football, if Terry McLaurin signs his new deal, which we think he will. But the front office doesn't appear to be too content with the running back room, and given that none are under contract beyond 2025, it makes this season hugely important for a host of backs. One is Brian Robinson, who has been a consistent presence in the Commanders' backfield for the past three years, posting over 700 rushing yards in each season. However, it appears Washington is ready to offload B-Rob. Per Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, the Commanders are shopping Robinson around to other teams. "Sources: The #Commanders have been shopping RB Brian Robinson Jr. to teams around the NFL," Schultz tweeted. "The former 3rd-round pick out of Alabama is entering the final year of his contract." Schultz then posted, "Washington likes its RB depth, but Robinson is available for the right price." So, there could be a scenario where B-Rob is on his way out of the nation's capital, but given that he is in the final year of his contract, who would be willing to part ways with draft capital for a one-year rental? We don't think too many would; instead, just wait for the 2025 season to play out and get Robinson as a free agent. Either way, there appears to be change happening for the Commanders with the regular season just around the corner, with their best running back potentially not being on the roster come Week 1.
