After making a free agency move to keep restricted free agent Mohamed Diawara, New York Knicks superfan Ben Stiller was thrilled.
He reacted to the news that the Knicks and Diawara came to terms on a multiyear extension by writing, “Let’s go MO,” along with three raised fist emojis.
It appears Stiller is really excited to continue seeing what Diawara has got. He played in 69 games during his rookie season, starting seven of them. In 9.2 minutes per game, he averaged 3.6 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game. He only appeared in six postseason games.
Diawara was a second-round pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2025 NBA Draft. He was subsequently traded to the Knicks. His best game came against the New Orleans Pelicans on Dec. 29. He scored 18 points in 18 minutes while making all four of his three-pointers.
Stiller is known as one of the most notable celebrity fans of the Knicks. A native New Yorker, he has been a longtime fan of the team.
He got to witness the franchise end a 53-year championship drought in 2026. Stiller was at most of the Knicks’ playoff games, and he traveled to San Antonio to watch New York beat the Spurs in Game 5.
Additionally, he was seen filming stuff on his phone throughout the series. He is filming footage for an upcoming documentary about the Knicks for HBO.
The Knicks beat the Spurs in five games to win the franchise’s first championship since 1973. Ironically, they lost in five games to the Spurs in their last NBA Finals appearance in 1999.
Jalen Brunson was named Finals MVP for his efforts. He averaged 32.6 points per game, and he put up 45 points in Game 5 alone.
Stiller was among the celebrities at Game 5. The likes of Spike Lee and Timothée Chalamet also made the trip to Texas. Stiller was then part of the championship parade a few days later, capturing more footage from a float.
