Antetokounmpo finished third in MVP voting last season. He averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks while shooting 60.1% from the field and made the All-NBA First Team.
The Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games. Antetokounmpo and Co. have won just one postseason series (2022) since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns in six games.
Bucks general manager Jon Horst was very busy this offseason. He waived and stretched Damian Lillard, signed Myles Turner, Gary Harris and Amir Coffey and re-signed Bobby Portis, Kevin Porter Jr., Gary Trent Jr., Taurean Prince and Jericho Sims.
A future Hall of Famer, Antetokounmpo will make $54.1 million next season. The Bucks signed him to a three-year, $175 million extension in Oc tober 2023. There is no no-trade clause in the contract.
One of the greatest players in NBA history, Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star. The Greek Freak has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks with the Bucks.
On August 4, NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported that Antetokounmpo was still evaluating his future with Milwaukee. However, no one expects the swingman to request a trade before next season starts.
“As we sit here on August 4, sources tell me there is nothing set in stone about whether Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to stay in Milwaukee or whether he wants to leave elsewhere,” Charania said. “He’s been evaluating his future this entire offseason. I reported way back in mid-May that he’s open-minded about whether his best fit is in Milwaukee or is it a trade elsewhere.”
