The San Antonio Spurs have big expectations for this season.
The San Antonio Spurs are seen as a team that is expected to take a leap in the Western Conference.
Victor Wembanyama is entering his third season in the league and he looks poised for a huge year.
Also, Wembanyama has a strong supporting cast that can help him taste the playoffs for the first time in his career.
While the Spurs are loaded with young talent, they also have a proven veteran in De’Aaron Fox who is entering his prime.
Fox helped the Sacramento Kings end their playoff drought in 2023 and now he’s looking to do the same with San Antonio.
One of the most fascinating storylines for this Spurs season is the partnership between Fox and Wembanyama.
That’s something that former NBA player Blake Griffin is excited to see.
“We know how good Wemby is, skill-wise, height, all that. The one thing I am most impressed with is where he is mentally.
“The guy goes to train with monks, he’s working with Hakeem, he’s working with KG, at 21.
“His mindset is different. I love that he’s so locked in.
“I’m also excited for Fox-Wemby pick and rolls, we didn’t really get to see them much last season, from what I hear Dylan Harper the Spurs are high on him.
“The Fox-Wemby pick and roll, their dynamic will accentuate this roster, I’m excited to see them in action.”
Over the offseason, Wembanyama was fully cleared to return to on-court action after he was diagnosed with a blood clot issue.
Wembanyama had an epic offseason which included him completing a 10-day spiritual retreat at the Shaolin Temple in China.
Wembanyama also trained with NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon and even spent time with another NBA legend, Kevin Garnett.
Wembanyama had the perfect offseason, which means he could be in line for a dominant regular season.
