The New York Knicks are coming off an impressive season that saw them reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000.

Of course, this was not enough for the Knicks to retain head coach Tom Thibodeau as they fired him to begin the offseason before hiring Mike Brown as his replacement.

New York also signed Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele in free agency to upgrade their bench behind their core of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges.

With their improved depth and the East being weakened due to injuries to multiple stars, the Knicks are set to enter next season as one of the favorites to represent the East in the NBA Finals.

Knicks predicted to swap Karl-Anthony Towns for Giannis Antetokounmpo

While that may be the case, they may still be a few pieces away from doing so and with that in mind, Sports Illustrated’s Jake Brown recently released a mock trade that would land them a sought-after superstar from the Milwaukee Bucks.

In the trade, Brown has the Knicks sending Towns, Miles McBride and two first-round picks to the Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Of course, the Knicks have been targeting Giannis for several years and with the superstar’s future in Milwaukee uncertain, New York could pull the trigger to acquire him this offseason.

While that may be the case, many around the NBA expect Giannis to remain with the Bucks entering next season and the Knicks may be apart of that group after they reportedly waited to sign Bridges to an extension until they knew they would not be able to land Giannis from Milwaukee.

Despite this, Giannis could still become available this offseason and swapping Towns, McBride and a couple of first-round picks for him could make the Knicks the team to beat next season with a new star duo of Giannis and Brunson.

For the Knicks, moving on from Towns would be a tough decision but to swap him for arguably a top five player in the league in Giannis would likely make the Knicks the favorite in the East heading into next season and for many years to follow.

While adding the dominant scorer and defender to their roster would likely be a dream come true for the Knicks, it is highly unlikely to happen as it appears as though Giannis is set to remain with the Bucks next season.
