When free agency started, the Milwaukee Bucks were one of the most active teams. One of the biggest moves they had this summer was waiving Damian Lillard. It came as a surprise since Lillard is due to miss the entire 2025-26 season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.
The reason why the Bucks opted to release him was to make room for Myles Turner, whom they signed on a four-year, $108.9 million contract. The front office also added guard Cole Anthony to the team on a one-year contract. Veteran guard Gary Harris also joined the roster on a two-year deal.
The Bucks also kept most of the supporting cast from the previous seasons. Management re-signed Gary Trent Jr., Jericho Sims, Ryan Rollins, Taurean Prince, Kevin Porter Jr., Chris Livingston and Bobby Portis Jr.
Even with that group around Giannis Antetokounmpo, some double their ability to contend for a championship.
In Portis' recent appearance at ESPN Milwaukee, the big man questioned the critics for doubting their competitiveness.
"What's wrong with our team? Why can't we do it this year? What's wrong with our team? The only thing that has been wrong with us is that people have been hurt… We ain't really been healthy," the big man said.
Although the team doesn't have the star point guard anymore, they still have Antetokounmpo. Additionally, the Greek Freak has enough help offensively, given the number of shooters the Bucks added to the team this summer.
