The Milwaukee Bucks are about to embark on another journey, with their 2025-26 season scheduled to kick off this Wednesday in a home game at Fiserv Forum against the visiting Washington Wizards.
The Bucks have made some major moves over the offseason, with the hopes that they could seriously contend for an NBA crown after an early exit from the 2025 NBA Playoffs. They added Cole Anthony, Gary Harris and Myles Turner while also resigning AJ Green, Kevin Porter Jr., Bobby Portis, Gary Trent Jr., Jericho Sims and Ryan Rollins.
Milwaukee will still go as far as where Giannis Antetokounmpo takes it, but the success of the team will also be dictated by how well the supporting cast performs.
“I’m excited for the season. I think it’s 13, 14, 15 deep, man,” Portis said during an appearance on the Hear District podcast just before the start of the new season.
The former Arkansas Razorbacks star then went on to break down Milwaukee’s mentality and the depth beyond Antetokounmpo.
“A lot of guys with super high competitive spirits. When you mix competitive spirit with guys that’s coachable, I think that’s a recipe for success in my eyes. We got a lot of plug-and-play guys. We got a lot of guys that on any given night can go off.
“You key in on Giannis, we got AJ Green and GT. They are 40% snipers. You want to leave those guys open? And then you got Myles Turner. One of the best shooting big men in the NBA. Kevin Porter Jr., which I’m expecting him to have a major jump this year. And then our bench. I think we got the best bench in the NBA. Cole Anthony, Ryan Rollins in the backcourt. Then you got TP at the three and me and Kuz at the four and five. How you want to play it? It’s going to be very much so exciting basketball that we’re going to be playing.”
Portis, who entered the league in 2015, is now in his sixth season with the Bucks, who signed him to a three-year extension with the team in July.
