The Boston Celtics have become the most active organization this offseason, making two significant trades to get them out of the second apron. The first move the Celtics made was trading Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons and two future second-round picks. On Tuesday, they moved Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks on a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets. In exchange, they received Georges Niang.
Amid the moves they made, there have been talks that the Celtics aren’t done with the trades. ESPN’s Shams Charania predicted that there are teams interested in making a deal to acquire All-Star forward Jaylen Brown. Additionally, Boston’s starting shooting guard, Derrick White, has gained interest from other teams around the NBA.
On Tuesday, Charania reported that the Celtics are still getting offers for the two vital pieces of their 2024 championship run.
“Them phone lines are ringing in Boston,” Charania said.
“My understanding is the Celtics getting offers, calls on both Jaylen Brown and Derrick White. The Celtics have high price thresholds for both players. We know how great Brown and White are. I’m sure they’re getting some massive offers, some pretty big-time calls as well.
Shams says ‘them phone lines are ringing in Boston’:
“The Celtics are getting offers, calls on both Jaylen Brown and Derrick White. Their preference has been to keep both players. They are listening, but will a team get there?”

“Their preference has been to keep both players. But this is a team that’s still in the first apron, still a luxury tax team, still dealing with the uncertainty of Jayson Tatum’s status next season.”
Charania detailed that the Boston Celtics will be listening and monitoring which team will meet the asking price for each player.
Holiday is one of the most important players for the Boston Celtics ever since they acquired him in 2023. However, the recent Achilles injury to Tatum and their salary situation led the front office to make a crucial move to trade him. On Tuesday, former Celtics star Paul Pierce reacted to the trade.
“We lost a lot in this trade. We lost a champion, we lost a leader in the locker room, we lost a part of the culture, the DNA that he brought to the Celtics that was valuable… I understand the trade. Jrue has a couple more years left on his contract at a steep price… Anfernee has one year left,” Pierce said on FS1’s “Speak.”

Although Holiday wasn’t the leading scorer for the Celtics, his championship experience and elite defense helped Boston win in 2024. Unfortunately for Boston, they had to part ways and move on with the two-time All-Star.
