B/R Proposes Hypothetical Raptors Trade With Jakob Poeltl Going To Warriors

Trade season is approaching and the Toronto Raptors possess one of the most intriguing center options in Jakob Poeltl.

However, it remains to be seen if the veteran center is truly up for sale. Which makes sense given the production that Poeltl has given them at the center position.

The 29-year-old is currently averaging a career-high 14.9 points and 10.6 rebounds to begin this season. While he shared that he wants to play winning basketball, Toronto does not necessarily have to move him.

As the Feb. 6 trade deadline approaches, there will be opposing general managers testing the water on Poeltl. Seeing how the Raptors gave up a first-round pick to acquire him, at the very least, they need one back in any potential deal.

With that being said, Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz proposes a trade between the Raptors and Golden State Warriors. Highlighting Poeltl going to the Warriors to sore up their center spot.

Swartz has Toronto receiving Moses Moody, Kevon Looney and Gary Payton II. While Golden State gets Poeltl and Garrett Temple.

Draft compensation aside, this could be a worthwhile deal for the Raptors. Depending on how they value Looney and Payton II, they are expiring contracts.

However, Moody has three years remaining on his contract. But, Moody would be the center piece of this deal.

At 22-years-old, Moody has not received ample opportunity to showcase his talents as a lottery pick. The Raptors could offer him minutes as a bench player to provide more scoring punch.

While this may not be the home run move, acquiring a young prospect in exchange for a veteran center is not all bad. Of course, Golden State would have to garner up a first-round pick and potentially more.

This is the framework of the kind of exchange Toronto should look for, should they decide to trade Poeltl.

Hypothetical Raptors trade sees Jakob Poeltl & Bruce Brown to Nuggets

Jakob Poeltl is going to be in high demand. Although, it remains to be seen how open the Raptors are to trading him.

Another hypothetical trade involving Poeltl, sees him and Bruce Brown going to another Western Conference team in the Denver Nuggets.
