Bradley Beal Is Reportedly Open To Clippers Reunion

While most of the top names are already off the board, several prominent players still remain available on the free agent market. Among them is 33-year-old Bradley Beal, a veteran sharpshooter and three-time All-Star who was once considered one of the top scorers in the game.

Currently, the market can only be described as limited for Beal, who has been in decline for years following his exit from the Wizards. He’s been unsigned for weeks, and many speculate he’ll still be a free agent by opening night. In the latest update, however, it’s revealed that Beal may be headed back to the Clippers, where he spent the 2025-26 season. It’s not the expected course of action, although it could prove beneficial for all sides.

“A return to the Clippers, league sources say, has not been ruled out for Bradley Beal, who has also drawn interest from Miami,” reported Marc Stein. “The 33-year-old played in only six games for the Clippers last season before needing season-ending surgery to repair a fracture in his left hip.”

Since leaving the Wizards, it’s been nothing but downhill for Bradley Beal. After a failed stint with the Suns, the former third overall pick ended up in Los Angeles last season, where he went from averaging 31.3 points per game in 2021 down to just 8.2 points per game (along with 0.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 0.5 steals on 37.5% shooting). What’s worse is that he played just six games that season for a Clippers team that went 42-40.

After that disastrous campaign, it seemed doubtful that Beal would ever return to the Clippers, but his options are somewhat limited at this stage of his career. If not Los Angeles, the only other team with reported interest is the Miami Heat, but they are known to be pursuing Klay Thompson, who is considered a much better fit for their roster. So, if Beal really craves a roster spot, his best bet is to stay right where he’s at and try to make up for previous failures.

For the Clippers, Beal would not significantly change the status quo, but he’s a cheap and affordable addition (will sign for the veteran minimum) who has put up big numbers in the past. If he can just stay healthy, there’s a chance he could restore his All-Star form and help the Clippers make a run in the West.

Without Kawhi Leonard or James Harden, they aren’t considered contenders, but the combined talents of Darius Garland, Rui Hachimura, Bennedict Mathurin, and Keaton Wagler could be enough to make them competitive next season. Bringing back Beal to the mix, even in this state, would only raise their ceiling by adding another offensive weapon and proven floor spacer to the roster.

Overall, signing Beal is a low-risk, high-reward move that could pay off ten-fold. Playing for a Clippers team with low expectations, he could operate freely and without any anxiety, which may help bring out his best on the court. Either way, neither side has much to lose in this scenario, and it would certainly make things more interesting if they reunited to run it back after such a disappointing season.
