Bradley Beal: Joining Clippers was based on trying to win championship

Veteran guard Bradley Beal said his main motivation for signing with the Clippers was what he believes is a chance to win a championship.

“I need a ring. I want one bad,” Beal told KMOV’s Tamar Sher. “I feel like I’ve got a new life of rejuvenation, for sure, a new hunger. I’m excited about the opportunity, new city, a new environment but a hungry environment, too.”

Beal, 32, signed a two-year, $11 million contract with the Clippers after being bought out by the Suns. You can watch the full interview here.

Along with Beal, the Clippers added forward John Collins in a trade with the Jazz and signed center Brook Lopez, formerly of the Bucks.

“Beal is stepping into a key role with the Clippers, the one Norman Powell played at a near All-Star level for the team last season: Sharpshooter to space the floor, being a secondary shot creator on the wing next to James Harden, and running the second unit,” wrote Kurt Helin of NBC Sports. “Beal has come to a team that should win a lot of games: The Clippers were a 50-win team last season and should be improved after adding solid veteran depth around Harden and Kawhi Leonard, such as Brooke Lopez as a backup center and John Collins at the four.”
