Bradley Beal makes decision on his new team

Bradley Beal is officially departing the Phoenix Suns, and will waste no time in landing with a new team.

Beal has agreed to a buyout with the Suns and will join the Los Angeles Clippers in free agency, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. Beal’s deal with the Clippers will be worth $11 million over two years.

The Suns had owed Beal another $110 million over the next two seasons. In all likelihood, he had to give some of that back, but will still get the bulk of his cash from the Suns in the payoff. The $11 million he will receive from the Clippers will help offset some of the money he is giving back.

The Clippers were one of several teams with interest in Beal . They will likely be able to give him a solid role as a shooter, which might have given them an edge over other interested teams. Beal also saw the Clippers re-establish James Harden’s career, which may have factored into his thinking.

Beal will be trying to get his career back on track with the Clippers after two bad years with Phoenix. Injuries limited him to just 53 games in each of the past two seasons, and he averaged 17 points per game last season, well below his career average.
