The Toronto Raptors pulled off a blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Pelicans ahead of the trade deadline to acquire Brandon Ingram, and they are going to keep him around long-term.
On Tuesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Ingram has agreed to a three-year, $120 million contract extension with the Raptors that includes a player option in 2027-28 according to Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul.

Of course, the Pelicans were searching for a new home for Ingram ahead of the trade deadline since the two sides could not agree on a contract extension, but it did not take long for Ingram to agree to one with his new team.
For the Raptors, this now locks Ingram up through the 2027-28 season. Toronto was desperately searching for a star player to pair alongside Scottie Barnes and the rest of their young core, and they have now done so by extending Ingram.
Ingram has yet to suit up for the Raptors since the trade. The 27-year-old forward has been out since early December with an ankle sprain, but he could return to the lineup very soon.
Before the injury, Ingram was averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 46.5% from the field and 37.4% from three-point range in 18 games in New Orleans. He has continued to improve every season of his career, but the injuries have been an issue for Ingram.
Over his nine seasons in the NBA, Ingram has played more than 65 games just once, which was his rookie season with the Los Angeles Lakers. He is once again on pace to play in less than 65 games this season.
While that may be the case, the Raptors are hopeful that he can stay healthy for them and help them return to a championship contender over the next few seasons as their young core continue to develops around him.
