Will LeBron James be traded this offseason? That has been a popular question lately, and Brian Windhorst weighed in on the subject on Tuesday.

Windhorst appeared on ESPN’s “NBA Today” free-agency special Tuesday and talked about James. He shared what he has heard about what is going on with James.

“I am told LeBron’s just chillin’ and watching the offseason,” Windhorst said. “Do I think he’s going to get traded? No, I do not. But if he wanted to get traded, there are teams who would step up and make offers. And if LeBron speaks up for himself and has a different thing to say, then we could have some action. But I don’t know if that will happen.”

LeBron's longtime agent Rich Paul sparked some trade speculation when he said James’ priority was trying to make the most of every season he has left before retirement. Paul later reportedly said he had heard from four interested teams after issuing a statement regarding James.

So far, it does not sound like James is going to be acting on any trade action. He may want to wait and see what happens during free agency before making any decisions. One team has emerged as a favorite in the case that James requests a trade.

James turns 41 years old on Dec. 30 and has played 22 seasons in the NBA. He has been with the Lakers for seven seasons. The team went 50-32 in the regular season and lost their first-round playoff series to the Timberwolves. James has won four championships and does not have much time left in his playing career. If he could play for another team that might have a better chance at winning a title, that could appeal to James. But for now, he has not requested a change, and Brian Windhorst does not see a trade happening yet.
