Stephon Castle has been a major pillar of the San Antonio Spurs’ success this season.

Stephon Castle is showing why he’s a key piece of the San Antonio Spurs‘ future along with Victor Wembanyama and rookie Dylan Harper.

The reigning Rookie of the Year is off to a great start this season, averaging 18.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists on 50.5 percent shooting from the field.

He had a signature performance of 30 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the Spurs NBA Cup semifinals win against the Los Angeles Lakers.

How the San Antonio Spurs truly feel about Stephon Castle

Castle’s name has come up a ton in trade rumors dating back to the offseason.

The Spurs have been heavily linked to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Castle’s name has frequently been mentioned as an asset San Antonio would have to give up in such a deal.

However, the Spurs are very high on Castle and right now they wouldn’t trade him for anybody in the league, per Brian Windhorst.

“I’m not sure they [Spurs] would trade him for anybody in the league.

“They love Castle, they love everything about his makeup, they love everything about the way he competes, and they love everything about how he’s willing to improve.

“They love Stephon Castle.”

The San Antonio Spurs are proving that their three-guard rotation is working

The Spurs are thriving this season with a three-guard rotation featuring Castle, De’Aaron Fox and Harper. This is a setup that Castle believes has a high ceiling.

The trio has powered the Spurs to an 18-7 record, fourth in the Western Conference, and played key roles in a 111-109 NBA Cup semifinals win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Castle talked about the growing chemistry among the guards and how they have silenced preseason doubts about if they could all co-exist

“Yeah. Uh, three high-IQ guards that, um, you know, we don’t care who gets it done.

“And I think it makes it a lot better when, you know, you like your teammates off the court. It’s a lot easier to play on the court.

“So, uh, I mean, just sharing the ball. I mean, like I said earlier, we’re a pretty deep team. We got a lot of guys that can do it on any given night. So, you know, whoever’s night it is, [we roll with it].”

The Spurs have a high ceiling for this season and it’s because of their three talented guards who surround Wembanyama.
